A Blues Legend’s 11th Album Launch
To Bring To A Close
The 21st edition of Viree Blues Boreale

The Great Bob Walsh is back, more in tune than ever, after sailing out of the two year storm of serious health problems, on his new opus appropriately titled `After The Storm`, his new opus. Bob Walsh with his merry band and the harp virtuoso Guy Belanger will be presenting you this new album. With his legendary charisma, this giant of the Canadian Blues scene will bring to a close this 21st edition of Viree Blues Boreale.

Indeed it is some story! It is the story of an extraordinary talent, of an unequalled voice and of a career which earned Bob Walsh the greatest respect by his peers and by the whole musical community. Just mentioning his name brings up a major chapter of the history of the Blues, from the Devito-Walsh Band in the ‘70s until now. Bob Walsh is a fighter, a survivor and a true Blues giant. After touring many sections of Canada and all of Europe, after getting lots of awards among which the Felix for the `Best Artist working in a language other than French`, Bob Walsh is now coming back to Viree Blues Boreale, bringing with him his catching energy! His vividly expressive voice, ably assisted by an outstanding talent for music is sure to offer a great performance at times with exuberance, or with melancholy ... and always with feelings.

A Blues fixture in Canada, Bob Walsh’s 11th opus is a vivid Blues album with shades of folk and jazz as well, music styles that were important parts in his four decade career. For the recording in Montreal, Bob Walsh was joined by his long time partners: Jean Fernand Girard (Hammond B3, piano, Rhodes, direction and arrangements), Guy Belanger (harp), Christian Martin (guitars), Jean Cyr (bass) and Bernard Deslauriers (drums). With his unmistakable voice and accompanied by a powerful brass section, Bob Walsh clearly celebrates his love of life. Sailing between re-renderings of classics of Charles Calhoun (Smack Dab In The Middle) of Leon Russel (This Masquerade), of Doc Pomus (Lonely Avenue), of Bill Whiters (Grandma’s Hands) as well as of the touching Whiter Shade Of Pale and other compositions of Ray Bonneville, Michael Jerome Brown, Dale Boyle and Vincent Beaulne, After The Storm is an inspired opus and, like Bob Walsh, more alive and kicking than ever!

So join in and get immersed in those heavy warm beats in the True Blues tradition! Sailing between songs from the Blues classics and well-felt original compositions, he shall go through a whole Blues jazzy repertoire, as he so clearly demonstrated though the last fourty years. With his harmonica virtuoso friend Guy Belanger who pleasantly surprised us with his soundtrack of "Gas Bar Blues" and also with his last opus, “Blues Turn”, with Fernand Girard on Hammond B3, piano, and Rhodes, and with Jean Cyr who’s but one with his bass, it’s the launch of Bob Walsh’s 11th opus on the closing show of Viree Blues Boreale’s 21th edition, Wednesday June 10 2015, around 8h00 p.m. at the famous venue, Le Petit Chicago, 50 Promenade du Portage, in the Old-Hull sector.
