Six months later, she moved back to the States, in Los Angeles where she made her professional debuts on the Blues scene in September 2007. A first album “Lucky Girl”, follows in November 2008.
Karen Lovely shot onto the Blues scene like Stack O' Lee's .44, placing 2nd at the 2010 Memphis International Blues Challenge, followed by three 2011 Blues Music Award nominations for “Best Contemporary Blues Female Artist”, “Best Contemporary Blues Album” and “Best Song” for “Still the Rain” the title song of her 2nd album launched in 2010.

"Even before Koko Taylor's passing, the number of outstanding female blues singers was alarmingly small. Things are looking up, though, due to the emergence of Karen Lovely."
- DownBeat Magazine
"I think Karen Lovely is the most talented singer I have been associated with since my early days with Robert Cray."
- Dennis Walker, Multi-Grammy-winning producer (Robert Cray/B.B. King/Bettye LaVette)
"Lovely’s style begins from sources within such classic blues singers as Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith. And, like Janis Joplin before her, she has translated those influences into an utterly gripping contemporary style of her own...stunning musicality."
- Don Heckman, International Review of Music (renowned former music critic LA Times, NY Times)
With the release of her 3rd studio album "Ten Miles Of Bad Road”, produced by Grammy Awards winner Tony Braunagel, Lovely established herself as a singer/songwriter with her passionate, driven performances. The album was selected by Downbeat Magazine as one of the Best of 2016.
Karen Lovely posses a unique style, an unusually strong and supple voice, secure in its phrasing and intonation. The power in her singing grows from her intimate understanding of the emotions belonging to the characters existing in the intelligent songs she elects to interpret. She mixes discipline and spontaneity with growing authority, and invests even the most forlorn Blues with a life-affirming vibrancy.
