It was not that long ago, on a cold January 2005 night when a band and his charismatic harp player/singer were featured. The Blues and Funk briskly trotted out full blast, with some guitar wizardry and a steeped harmonica player who dished out his very own solos turned this harsh start on that drab January Monday night into a wild party. On stage, on the bar, on tables or on the street which got passers-by wondering, this true showman turned on a firework, as he does on each of his visits. They played the first show of the first edition of Viree Blues, then later, a show where they invited Jean Millaire & Andree Dupre to launch their 1st album Bad Boys Blues in celebration of their 10th anniversary and while launching the 10th edition of Viree Blues. And the story goes on with the release of their 2nd album, Love Automatic, while bringing to a close the 15th edition of Viree Blues with a high-energy guest, top harmonica player, Mister Jim Zeller. Now, it’s once more with a one-of-a-kind show and with their guest, living legend Carl Tremblay that Eric Farran & The Ramblers also known as Quebec’s Rolling Stones will be here to launch their 3rd opus, Suicide Blues.
Mastering an impressive repertoire of standards mixed with Blues, Blues Rock as well as Rock’N’Roll and original compositions, The Ramblers break out as a running fire of successes and performances delivered with such energy that no one can break away from. Triggered off by viewing the Stones’ Midnight Rambler clip and by also meeting Jim Zeller at Montreal’s Medley Club, Eric Farran’s passion for the harmonica and for the Blues has been further strengthened in 1999 by the birth of The Ramblers. Gradually, through hard work, the band evolved to reach a solid high level on the Blues scene. Now with three albums to their name, the standards has more and more given way to original compositions, but always with the energy and moves resembling Mick Jagger’s as well as style and sounding kind of like Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones ... and that so in the language of Moliere (French) as well, to the `satisfaction` of all their fans.
And their guest? For so many, this guest needs no introduction, but for our newcomers, while caring not to overly extend this communique, here is a very brief summary of his career. Carl Tremblay earned his living legend title by performing on major stages throughout the world as well as in most remote bars. He performed with John Belushi, The Blues Brothers, Buddy Miles, Joe Cocker, B.B. King, Etta James, Commander Cody and so many other greats! It all began when Carl was 13; he left for the corner store to buy candy with the few cents he had. On the cash counter, he noticed a small harmonica that he decided to buy instead of the previously chosen goodies. He’d remain unsure of his choice for a short while only; but as soon as he tried to play this instrument, he knew this small gem would remain with him for his whole life.
The Ramblers, still led by their founding member Eric Farrand on vocals and harmonica, are now Pierre Bouthillier on guitar, David McElcheran on bass and Donato Spallone on drums. The Ramblers are launching their all new album, more mature and with decadent Blues together with Rock'N'Roll. So, you can count on attending a Rolling Stones atmosphere show but in a less than 200 place bar, for the release of an all new album and the presentation of a Blues Videoclip, one of the so few that roll on Musimax and V-Tele, when The Ramblers and their famous guest Carl Tremblay perform on the Wednesday May 31st 2017 Viree Blues Moosehead, around 8h00 p.m. at the famous Bar Le Petit Chicago, 50, Promenade de Portage, in Old Hull.
